Phoenix Golf, Course, Resort and Package Information
Phoenix Arizona is a sports lover's paradise, boasting over 150 golf courses. Whether you are a spectator, participant or a little of both, with year-round sunny skies, you never have to lose a day or two of planning on your Phoenix golf vacation due to inclement weather.
Numbering over 325 golf courses and counting, Phoenix Arizona has a tee time, golf course and a skill level for everyone. Several of the state's courses are included in Golf Digest's list of America's greatest 100 Golf Courses and 15 holes are on its list of the top 500 in the world. The PGA and LPGA each hold two tournaments in the state; the most popular, the Phoenix Open, draws over 400,000 spectators a year.
Fans flock to other professional sports. The Major League Baseball 2001 World Champion Arizona Diamondbacks, NBA Phoenix Suns and NHL Coyotes play in Phoenix, and the NFL Arizona play in Tempe. MLB Spring Training brings teams from all over the country.
Phoenix Arizona is also home to the World Champion Arena Football League Arizona Rattlers. Avondale's Phoenix International Raceway hosts some of the largest crowds in the state for NASCAR and Indy races. The Old West would not seem the same without rodeos, held in almost every city in the state. And a sort of water rodeo, the Skat-Trak World Finals (the Super Bowl of jet powered ski racers) is held each year in Lake Havasu City.

The Valley of the Sun-made up of Arizona's capital city of Phoenix and surrounding cities such as Chandler, Glendale, Mesa, Paradise Valley, Scottsdale and Tempe-is a place of superlatives.
Central Arizona's desert is home to the Phoenix metropolitan area and its more than 3 million residents. Encompassing more than a thousand square miles, the area amazes with a variety of experiences. For convenience, this section is divided into six areas, each of which has a distinctly different character and slate of activities-Phoenix, the West Valley, Scottsdale and Paradise Valley, the Northeast Valley, the East Valley and Pinal County
Recently named America's Best Place to Live for Golf by the Robb Report, Scottsdale is serious about its fairways, boasting nearly 200 golf courses. With some of the nation's best-known and most challenging courses, the city is a natural for its professional golf tournaments such as the PGA FBR Open, played each year at the Tournament Players Club of Scottsdale. Award-winning golf courses, state-of-the-art golf schools and incomparable service have made Scottsdale synonymous with great golf.
Scottsdale's sporting traditions are not limited to the fairways and greens, however. Professional tennis players volley their way through the brackets each year at the Arizona Men's Tennis Championships at the Fairmont Scottsdale Princess. Scottsdale Stadium, in the heart of Old Town, draws fans from around the country to watch Major League Baseball teams as they compete in exhibition games against the San Francisco Giants, who call Scottsdale their home field during spring training season. Since Scottsdale dubs itself "The West's Most Western Town," horses naturally play a big role in the city's sporting events. WestWorld, the city's equestrian and special event facility, is home to the annual Scottsdale Arabian Horse Show. Scottsdale also is home to the Arizona Cowboy College, where "city slicker" students can learn firsthand about horsemanship and cattle.
Recognized with top awards in 2003, Scottsdale's legendary resorts continue to push the luxury envelope with three winners of AAA's Five-Diamond designation: The Fairmont Scottsdale Princess, the Four Seasons Resort Scottsdale at Troon North, and Marriott's Camelback Inn Resort, Golf Club & Spa. In addition, seven Scottsdale resorts have received the AAA Four-Diamond Award: Hilton Scottsdale Resort & Villas, Hyatt Regency Scottsdale Resort at Gainey Ranch, Inn at Eagle Mountain, The Phoenician, the Royal Palms Resort & Spa, Sanctuary on Camelback Mountain, and The Scottsdale Plaza Resort.
